What is a Research Paper?

A research paper is a detailed essay that presents one’s own evaluation, interpretation or argument. Although research paper is a type of term paper, some term papers do not require any kind of academic research. Therefore, not all research papers can be considered as term papers.

When you write an essay, you use everything that you personally know and have thought about a subject. Writing research papers requires building upon what you know about the subject and making a deliberate attempt to find out what experts know about the subject in focus. Depending upon the requirements, research paper might also require you to collect data through surveys, interviews etc.
